These are just statistics from people who do visit a sexual health clinic:
- More than half of all people will have an STD/STI at some point in their lifetime.
- Each year, one in four teens contracts an STD/STI.
- Almost 3 million new cases of chlamydia are reported each year.
- Over 14 million people acquire HPV each year.
- Hepatitis B is 100 times more infectious than HIV as 1 in 20 people will get infected in their lifetime.
- Estimates from the Centers for Disease Control and Infection show 19.7 million new STIs are reported per year.
- The total estimated direct cost of STIs annually in the U.S. is $15.6 billion (not inflated!)
More importantly:
Condom use provides substantial protection against many STDs, reduction of risk against HIV, chlamydia, gonorrhea, herpes, and syphilis.

This is amazing. Surely none of this will be worth it 20 years from now. All the pleasure pre-martial sex offers will be a vague memory in such a short amount of time. People really need to consider the pros and cons on something that can affect the rest of their life. Either wait to have sex until you're in a committed relationship (preferably when you're married) or always use protection. Forty minutes of pleasure is not worth HIV or Herpes.
