Most people with an average income do payments on engagement rings, so it's not really about "needing that money that bad." It'd be like if he bought her a car with monthly payments and they broke up a week later, wouldn't it be common sense for her to give said car back?



Tho yeah, people are dumb. couldn't imagine ever spending 125k on a ring unless i had the kinda money where i could buy it out-right and then hop on my yacht to my mansion on my private island right after.

It's illegal in most states to keep the ring if an engagement is called off as it's considered a conditional gift and full ownership is contingent upon the promise to marry being fulfilled. It's also really poor etiquette to keep the ring as well; however, given the circumstances of how their engagement ended, I don't blame her for making it as hard as possible for him to get the ring back.
