When was the discussion ever globally? There isn't even a such thing as "global ratings" for NFL. Katy's ratings record is in the US.

I randomly took 2001 in parallel with the music industry's downfall that keeps happening since 2001 (could have been 2000, that's not the point), unlike TV's.

By the way, if you want to talk about the SB ratings, 2015 might have been bigger than usual (even thought the ratings/share were also a bit bigger) but overall, the 2016 SB's ratings keep being steady compared to any recent year but 2015, that has not been the music industry's situation since when? 2000? 2002?

Between 2010 and 2014, albums sales have dropped by 24%. By 2017, it probably will be at like 40%, if not more.
I didn't know the SB situation was that dramatic.

EDIT: Actually, with a constant drop, between 2010 and 2016, we'd have a 41% decline. So, that's even worse than expected.

Y'all are so delusional about this it's ridiculous. If people were only checking in around mid-game just to watch the halftime performers, why is it pretty much never the overall viewership peak then?

2016 Peak: final quarter 116 million.
2015 Peak: final quarter 121 million.
2014 Peak: final quarter 118 million.
2013 Peak: final quarter 114 million.
2012 Peak: final quarter 117 million.

This pattern is the same during regular season games as well when there is no big halftime show -- keep thinking these typical viewership fluctuations are solely attributed to pop stars meanwhile ignoring the only interest measuring metrics that actually can be tied directly to the performers such as recurrent views of those shows.
