Yes, qualified women get turned down all the time simply because they are women. This wasn't the case with Hillary in this election, assuming the "qualified man who beat her out of a job" they're speaking of is Trump. I didn't hear many people say they're not voting for Hillary because she's a woman, though many did vote for her for that very reason-- "so she could be the first female president", "so my daughter can know she can do anything", etc.

Nah, we can give that to the American people.

so much of this was out of her control. she was the wrong candidate for this climate. she ran a good campaign.

Explain how she personally botched it, when she:

1) was under assault by many outside forces from the FBI to Russia
2) had her one scandal (emails) under false equivalence with dozens of Trump ones thanks to media
3) was facing a hidden movement that favored rhyme over reason
4) was planning her actions according to polls which completely and utterly failed to provide accurate assessment of the situation. Even 538 failed hard. Pollsters' reputations are literally destroyed at this point.

Regardless, what's the point of this comment? Everyone is well aware that she has lost despite the fact that she carried a very professional and well-fought campaign.

Just remember that you were part of the problem. Sanders' supporters got so bitter during the primary and completely tuned out of the election. Between abstaining, third-party votes, and general anti-Hillary activism, those 120,00 votes that cost her the election could have been saved. I warned you guys even on GGD that Hillary could lose because of all this bickering.

You turned in the end, but many others didn't. So enough of this bitterness Red. Time to move forward and fight the real enemy, Trump.

Well, that's true.

I heard many people, even women, say that they want a man to lead and not a woman. A lot of people who barely tuned in the election didn't even try to consider Hillary because they thought her being a woman was the entire point of her campaign. "Why should I vote for her because she's a woman. I'm a woman. Should I be president?" made me cringe so hard.

Regardless, why are you using personal anecdotes to try to disprove something?

The point is that despite the fact that she was way more qualified, many chose the much less qualified man because they felt he could provide change that she couldn't. They didn't trust her, while Trump got away with all his lies and deception.

Hillary couldn't act in many ways because it would have been "not feminine". She never raised her voice at Trump. She never reacted in any way that was "aggressive". She has to pay attention to perceptions because she was a woman, something Trump did not even bother with because men can say what they want apparently.

It's not always what people say. It's how they feel. A lot of criticisms towards Hillary were exaggerated simply because she was a woman. That's all there is to it.

You're making a lot of assumptions and attributing everything both candidates had to offer to their genders:

Yes, people voted for the less qualified candidate over the qualified candidate, and there could have been many reasons for this, not just one. In addition to their different genders, Trump and Hillary had different personalities, beliefs, approaches etc. Gender may have been the most noticeable difference, but I've yet to see how it was the deciding factor in this election.

Hillary's health and integrity were called into question all throughout the election-- two of the most attractive things people look for in a leader. If you're not physically able to do your job and do it honestly, most would argue you're unfit to be a president, you're gender has nothing to do with it. You can be overqualified (experience wise) for a position, yet be unfit to do it. That's one, of many, reasons people may have decided to vote against Hillary. Not just because she was a woman, but because people likely believed the evidence that showed her to be untrustworthy and unhealthy, or unfit, for presidency.
