Europeans, as per your own words, don't view Muslims as a minority. In the US, they're seen as a racial/religious minority. Thus, the power dynamics are different. And why radicalization takes on a unique causation in the US.

Islam isn't a race, and islamophobia isn't a thing. Being against homophobic, sexist, transphobic, anti-science, hateful, etc. etc. religion/ideology is reasonable thing to do.
