Can China surpass the US as the most powerful nation?
As we all know that China is expanding its power and influence by claiming the South China Sea but will they surpass the US as the most powerful nation? Discuss
No, their overpopulation problems significantly hinder infrastructure and reassure urltilisation. If they can drop the population to half a billion and bridge their wage gaps a little easily
It will eventually. Most of the West are on steady decline. They are not as powerful as they used to be 60 years ago. The US has also been declining in political, economic and cultural influence and dominance since after 2001 and China is already closing the economic, military and technology gap with the US.
Yeah, they're getting there. China's investing in Africa and the rest of Asia a lot. I just doubt that they'd meddle in things like Syria and Crimea though. They seem to prefer economic power over being macho (like Trump, Putin, Erdogan).
They're still a developing country in many ways with so much growth going on and we're now seeing a burgeoning middle class beginning to rise out of there. The problem for China going forward will be the government and the possibility of people rising up against the control the Chinese government has over their people.

Yes, middle class and wages in general are rising so fast here, it's gonna happen eventually, Chinese people want more freedom already.
