This election was seemingly very little about policy and more about personal characterstics, i.e. "who can you trust?" or "who is qualified?". The debates and campaign messages barely talked about substantive policy proposals. It was mostly about emails or whatever Trump said that week. Bernie killed Hillary when it came to who saw who as honest and trustworthy.

If it was Trump vs Bernie a different narrative would have been created. He'd be called a radical commie, too angry to be president, etc. The ethic narrative only arose because both candidates had "questionable" ethics.

He definitely would have lost FL, probably getting trounced badly. But he would have held all the deep blue coastal bases hillary had + rust belt states which would have been enough. A lot of them had razor thin margins which hours working class white appeal would have been enough in.

then again, there are so many factors that come into play like others have said that we will never know for sure if he would have won, and it will always be a "what if". But I'm leaning towards yes.

And Trump would lose all line of attack that were so effective against Hillary to do with the establishment, dishonesty, corruption, the big banks, all critical lines of attack that won him over so many voters in typically blue states.

But I think we should stop fighting over this because of like Bernie said, how pointless it is at this point I hope the DNC really takes this election as a lesson

She won most of the open primaries (where independents can vote). IIRC the only one she lost was Michigan (I'm not sure if Wisconsin was open or not). So that argument doesn't hold

I agree he would've held the blue bases down but he wouldn't have been in states like NV, VA (two states democrats needed to win) plus a flurry of swing states needed. He would have lost (most likely, none of us know for sure) as well

The "socialism"/"communism" thing didn't work in 2012 after years of smearing Obama with it. And again, trump is the least favorable candidate in history, approached only by Clinton iirc. Even if the attacks were somewhat successful, there was a hell of a lot of ground between deeply hated candidates like DT/HRC, and bernie, who was the only candidate in the race with net favorability. By the way, let's not act like mainstream media wasn't already using "socialist" to describe bernie pretty much every time he was mentioned. Americans are basically desensitized to those terms.

The anger thing is just silly against Donald Trump

Furthermore, Bernie would have outflanked trump on the issue of trade, pointing out that Trump is one of the billionaires who benefits from outsourcing and the rigged system both of their voters were fed up with. Trump was a bad candidate at the right time, hillary was an ok candidate at the wrong time. Bernie was a great candidate at the right time, but the DNC decided it was "her turn", and now she'll probably retire on the losing end of one of the most embarrassing political defeats in history.

Hillary just passed the 700K mark in the lead over Trump. Still projected to win it by approximately 2,000,000

A few things:
We now know media is not as powerful, impactful and credible as it once was
We now know the quantitative measure of the divide in America
We now know that so many people really didn't show up because they loathe clinton and trump.

That 46.% of no turn outs that were eligible to vote will be an interesting group in 2020
Dems and Republicans can now restrategize after this realization.

This what I keep saying. Without Gary, who received the largest amount of independent votes, Hillary's numbers would be even more embarrassing and straight-up terrible optics for the DNC

He literally snatched 3% of voters in key states which means Trump would've increased by three percentage points in each one. How pitiful would that have looked for Hillary/the DNC
