No shade but why do people assume that Sanders could've won if less black voters voted for him in the primary? One of the key mentions in the article above stated how Hillary black's turnout were lower than Obama in places like Michigan. I can only imagine how much worse Bernie would've fared. Of course then the argument could transfer to how he could've kept some of the white voters that basically crossed over to GOP, but would that even had been enough? Bernie would've eventually have to get a bit dirty much like he did toward the end of the Democratic Primary. Now I'm not saying he absolutely would've lost, maybe Clinton's campaign of scandals (even if most of it were emails) and the exposé of her private speeches as well as the DNC mess did push folks over. But personally I think the problem with Bernie is that he wasn't all-appealing (while Hillary just tried to bet on minorities, millennials and women and ultimately lost the EC). Hillary wasn't my first choice by any means but still, I have strong doubt about a GE Bernie winning. But in honestly no one would ever truly know.
Do you not think though the General Election would have provided Bernie the chance to show why he deserves their vote? I remember Aman (ok its Aman but still) on GTF saying that when he went to North Carolina to campaign, the black people there didn't know that much about Bernie and Clinton was the safe bet for them. Not because they didn't care or were misinformed or ill-educated... they just weren't people who'd constantly track primaries or sit in front of CNN all day.
I mean, in 2008 Obama himself struggled at first to take the black vote away from Clinton, right? He eventually did, but obviously it was easier for him.
During the election Bernie would have had a platform to show why he could he could and reach out to black Americans. Everyone would have seen that picture of him being arrested. He would have had the debates.
From the looks of it, Donald's personality type is NOT the one to embrace the role of "public servant".
He's really just used to being the boss, so it's gonna be a shock for him when he's accountable to the people. And not just union workers he can blow off and sue away. You can't sue a dissatisfied American people (watch him still try). With the way Obama aged, Donald is gonna prune up faster than a grape.

You don't win campaigns w/o money. And he and Trump's anti-establishment messages overlapped...except for the fact that Donald Trump actually hadn't been a senator for the last few decades. Oh, also, Bernie's rhetoric being laced with a drop of socialism.
It wasn't going to sit well with the majority of the American people.

Clinton's weaknesses led to Trump's strength boosting his down-ticket.
You can't say for-sure that enthusiasm for Sanders wouldn't have boosted enthusiasm for down-ticket races.
He could have won if he had the DNC and the Clinton machine behind him, but Clinton demanded it was "her turn".

But he told the American people during the election season he could do it. Him alone. He could run it all and fix it all
I'm arriving at a place where I blame Debbie Wasserman Shultz more than any other person. Never did I think I'd be agreeing with Bernie Bros but Trump is in the White House so stranger things have happened. She and the rest of the DNC more or less rigged the primaries for Hillary in hope of acquiring cabinet positions and turned off anti-establishment voters that Trump was able to grab from across the aisle. Not saying Bernie would have ultimately won over him, but the distrust after the email leaks was very widely felt and it lead people to want to reject the Democratic ticket.
But the DNC in 2008 was even more corrupt and bitter yet Hillary's coalition got behind the nominee. Guess we hold longtime democrats to different standards than the new coalitions. No wonder the party failed

I have no doubt that black folks would've turned out for Bernie, just not in higher number. Clinton was good because she already had an established relationship with black folks even in spite of the crime bill mess, 'superpredators" and pandering. Bernie had no established relationship. Nina Turner was nice but Cornel West? Eh. And even Obama had to FIGHT for the black vote since they were backing Clinton. He did this mostly in the primary. Bernie could've gotten somewhere if he actually made an appeal to blacks considering how neither candidates weren't all that great with black issues. Hillary was shown to help poor communities of color in the past and working with BLM. She still lost. And we're kidding ourselves if Bernie wouldn't had came under the same scrutiny with the Crime Bill that seems to incriminate nearly every democrats that isn't named Barack Obama
Both candidates did piss-poor in really targeting the issue of minorities. (But still loads better than Trump's inner cities hell mess)
