Low population, isolated population (most of those states are ****ing mountains so people are very isolated and separated), super conservative population (Wyoming is more conservative than anywhere else), religious populations, and old-leaning populations.

Y'all best not come for King Wyoming and Prince Idaho. Wyoming is a wealthy state (most of these states nowadays are poor af) and if we don't have potatoes from Idaho we won't have anything you guys like.

For I know, they're conservative states, with a bigger part of its population being rural, white, with lower education and very religious. Also I might be wrong as since I'm not American but they don't have many jobs and college offerings.
Montana and South Dakota are messy too, aren't they?

Cancel them. I regret anything nice I said about those states
I think the title is a joke and they were simply asking why millennials in those specific states lean Republican when majority of millennials elsewhere lean Democrat, or at least liberal.
The entire region's wealth though is also a reason for the millennial population's conservatism too.
I'm from Idaho and it's mostly racism at this point in time.
They're not suffering the same economically as some of the Midwest states (we never had manufacturing jobs that we lost, etc). The only other thing I could see is the independent, country lifestyle influencing kids. So when Democrats talk about gun control, it clashes with the closely held community values.
Oh and we have one of the highest high school drop out rates.
So even if the person who represents your political party is a homophobe, racist, sexist, lowest common demonitor pig you have to vote for him only because it's your party?

Both of these are correct for Idaho. There is a lot of racists and white supremacists here (especially in northern Idaho). I also believe Idaho and Wyoming have a high percentage of mormons helping hold the conservative values strong.
I also believe it's just being hard heads. If you want to call the hateful rednecks they'll show you how redneck they can be (the amount of high schoolers that drive around in their trucks flying confederate flags here is ridiculous).
