1) rae sremmurd's album released back in august called sremmlife 2. rae sremmurd is a rap duo that is very well-established in the general rap/hip-hop scene. black beatles is a song that features gucci mane, who has been in jail for multiple years and has got out just in may. so there's been a lot of hype surrounding him and his comeback to the industry. rap fans love him!
2) rae sremmurd being established + gucci mane hype + natural growth for about a month, and, just recently, + mannequin challenge.
3) not inherently; people just use this song a lot with mannequin challenge videos. it's a normal song; it's not a snap/crunk song that's dedicated to a dance or anything. it just happened to be popular with the mannequin challenge.
think of it like the harlem shake meme/trend; the harlem shake song originally had nothing to do with any dance. but then people started using it in their videos and started basing memes around the song.
4) the mannequin challenge is a social media trend where groups of people do poses as if they were a mannequin, and hold still. watch this one, for example:
