The fact that it came down to the two of them was probably why.......out of people I know in my personal life, I'd say half voted Trump and half voted Hillary. Out of those that voted for Trump, only a small, small percentage actually liked him. Most were just voting towards issues they believed in. They were both awful, and it's sad that the much worse of the two won.
Next election, hopefully people get more involved and engaged earlier on so we don't have a choice like this again.
