Here's the pro and cons you should weigh though. It's what I do for situations.
To answer your question, yes it's a good phone, but also a 5(or 5C) is too for a secondary phone.
Pros for the
4S:
- has iOS 9 (slow though)
- has HD (higher than 720) video recording (if you care of course)
- CHEAP
- Has "Siri" (compared to an iPhone 4 of course)
Cons for the
4S:
- No longer gets updates
- Small screen (hard to read some stuff on the internet, ex. articles that are long)
- iOS 9 music player only (you can't upgrade)
- The phone is slower since it is older (that is if you have iOS 9 on it), ESPECIALLY GAMING - 512MB RAM is not fast compared to 5/5C's 1GB
- 4G only, no LTE (the phone was not designed for LTE)
- Need to buy an old cord (cheap though compared to a iPhone 5 and above charger)
- Heavier
---------
Pro for the
5+
5C:
- Bigger screen than 4S (4 inches compared to 3.5 -
TRUST ME, IT MAKES A DIFFERENCE)
- Multiple colors to choose from (5C only, 5 only has
Black/Slate, White/Silver)
- You can upgrade either iPhone to iOS 10 and it will run SMOOTHLY (personal expierence!)
- Longer battery (5C's and 5's are the same amount of time)
- 5 is lighter and 5C is even lighter
Cons for the
5+
5C:
- More expensive ($$$)
- No touch ID (if you care about that of course)
- (
5 only) Updates will stop after iOS 10 - most likely,
nothing is set in stone
Both phones meet all of your requirements thankfully. Of course, The choice is all up to you, but I would choose the 5C just to make your expierence more enjoyable + 4S has the glass casing so if that falls and break, the back will be shattered. However, if it's all about budget and you don't care too much about speed, then go for the 4S.
Hope this helps!
