So, I'm thinking of signing up to Google Play. I already have Spotify for streaming but Google Play has some great offers for digital downloads from time to time.
Should I go for it? Has anyone here had any bad experiences with it? Also, do I need to pay a monthly or yearly fee to keep my account active and to be able to download music or is it free and you just pay only for the music you want to purchase? Any feedback is welcome

Think of it like iTunes, you can either pay for the album have it in your library that you can access for free, or you can pay a monthly subscription for access to their whole library as a streaming method like Apple Music

OOh gurl I'm the expert on this. I've had google music for years, and have had my personal library uploaded to their cloud services for 5+ years. You can upload up to 50k for free. You can stream them online through their browser interface or on your phone. OR download them to your phone for offline use so you don't use up any data.
It is a monthly fee. I have the family plan. 6 people for 15.99 a month. And access to google's music library, youtube red, and youtube without any ads.
but it is FREE if you just want to upload your music library to it.

YES for the expertise! I NEED you
So, if I only want to occasionally download music, I don't have to sign up or pay anything, like Oxygen said, correct? I just find the song or album I want, I give them my card number and info, and that's it. And then I have the option to either listen to it on the website (since I'm on my lap, I don't have their app on my phone) or download it to my pc with no extra charge, right?

Well no. It's just like paid Spotify. It's their music library you're paying for but if you have your own music files, you can upload those. but for I believe 9.99 a month, you'd have access to their library monthly.

Wait, I'm kind of confused now. I just bought an album from them, without previously making an account. The album was 4.99 euros. So, by purchasing that, what exactly have I done? Have I subscribed to them and have they already charged me 9.99 as well as the price of the album? I was so relieved when Oxygen said there's a distinction between the paid service and a simple download!

Oh, ok, I get what you're saying now. I'm mostly interested in just downloads for now, but thank you for sharing your feedback for their service as well. I took note! And thanks for helping out! You and Oxygen came through
So, now, I've only been charged 4.99 and I don't have a Google Play account, right? Just double checking, we broke people do that a lot
