The electoral college is what failed America. Hilary won the popular vote, maybe not in a landslide but she did, which means in any other democracy she would be the President.

Let's not use the system as a cop-out to dsmiss our own accountability.
I also blame extremist liberals for turning people away especially the radicals in groups such as #BLM or feminists. Don't get me wrong though, there are great people in those movements and the initial aim these movements set out for are good but their effect turned out to be extremely divisive. All those people using #BLM as a shield to spread extremely hateful messages about cops and white people, peaking in the violent riots and murders of cops seems to really not sit well with many democrats and liberals as well. Hilary failed to adress those things and let Trump capitalise on them.
I am also thinking about whether the gay marriage push in the US was still too sudden. Again. don't get me wrong, I am in full support of it because it's just such basic equality and it's sad how many people are against it but let's face it: many states a a whole were against it and felt overrun with the decision. Those things can really manifest itself in strong opposition and it did in the form of a succesful Republican campaign.
This is just me trying to make sense of the results especially the fact that states that were meant to be in Democratic hands turned on her.
