Still it's better than the alternative of having a president that only benefits a few states over the others.
ex: Hillary only won about 18 states, 2 of them being California and New York (two of the highest pop states). So imagine if all the votes in Cali and NY pushed her to win...
It would mean the 32 other states are stuck with a president they don't want.

There are pros and cons to the system, but it was created with a system of checks and balances in place so that no one person can abuse it.
