No, actually I am the one who approaches to people. It's very good to have conversations with the others.

Depends on where we are, like please don't try to have a full conversation with me when I am in the public restroom at the sink, that's weird.

Depends on the situation. I think it's really great when people smile at strangers and wish each other a good morning/evening etc. I've been told us British are very reserved in comparison to other countries.

I have to admit though, I don't mind a but of conversation with random people on the bus/shopping etc but if they're intrusive or ask personal questions I think it's rude.

Nah, I'm in college so it's a casual thing that happens all the time.

This. If it's a fine-looking guy or girl simply asking directions or something I'm extremely receptive. If it's a messy looking, cigarette-smelling advanced-age guy who needs a shower trying to talk to me about some lengthy randomness, then they can keep it.

EDIT: I realize this post may have come off offensive in hindsight. This literally happened to me a day ago and it wasn't pleasant, hence the very specific description I provided.

Like there was this time when I was coming home from school after a LONG day and this older guy beside me kept trying to engage in conversation (While I was trying to put my headphones in). Finally after like 20-30 minutes of me not being as enthusiastic as he probably hoped he stopped ff. I felt bad but like I was tired after a day of multiple presentations and a test.
