I checked and neither my MacBook nor my iMac have this problem. This report sounds a bit hokey, tbqh.

I uninstalled it last month because everytime I was opening it, my computer crashed after 5 minutes and I had always to restart it.

I checked some other machines - a windows desktop and linux desktop and they both wrote more than 1GB in less than 2 hours.

In the both cases there would have been maybe one album and a few singles streamed and most of the time it was just sitting there with the application open.

If Spotify writes 10GB per day for 300 days per year for 5 years, the extra writing to the drive would add up to about 15 TB. This seems really bad, but most decent consumer drives should last beyond 100 TB.

Hopefully they can reduce the number of drive writes. Most albums are about 100 MB for mp3 and 300 MB for FLAC, so no good reason to write that much.

I think that for a while, I won't use it, I'm glad that I know this now, since I'm about to buy a new Mac soon.
By the way my actual Air seems doing fine and I think to have a ssd, not sure tho.

So I'm keeping myself update with this thing on the official Spotify community thread, and it's confirmed this is an issue, also for Windows PCs, they're waiting for a new update and a response, meanwhile I unistalled the app.
Apparently this happens also without listening to music but only with the App open, and it's the same thing if use it the desktop-borowser version from what I read.
