These are amazing numbers for Tove

ARTPOP and Joanne's drops can't be compared, because pure sales drops are always going to be worse than SPS ones. And you can't compare their pure sales drops because the sales climate now is MUCH worse than the 2013 climate.

What we can do is compare Joanne's SPS drop with most of the other recent SPS drops for non-catalog acts (because catalog acts generally have negligible streaming). And when we do this, we find that it was a pretty decent drop.

The sales climate wasn't much different in late 2013. Last year, Adele debuted with 3.38 million. Beyonce had 650,000 in April. Anti continues to chart and returned to #1 shortly after...it's platinum.

Will be interesting to see if Joanne follows ARTPOP in dropping off or if it will linger.

Beyonce, Adele & Taylor are obvious exceptions. They are the only pop girls who are guaranteed to do 500k+. Comparing other artists to them is no fair

But I thought Gaga's comeback after 2015/Oscars/Bowie/Superbowl announcement was going to solidify her status as a major force? But she's doing Ultraviolence numbers (but with major promo)?

Let's not forget ARTPOP had a pretty successful lead single, had both Applause AND DWUW on the radio, while had none of those.
