Amid strong-as-ever ratings, Fox has renewed The Simpsons for an unprecedented 29th and 30th seasons. The renewal takes the long-running hit animated series to 669 episodes, the largest number of episodes for any scripted television series ever, and breaks the record previously set by Gunsmoke (635 episodes).
The cast also has been locked in for both new seasons.
These past few seasons have really stepped it up in my opinion compared to other horrible seasons so I'm glad. 30 seems like a good number to end though (even though I'm one of the few who still enjoys the show). It's weird knowing that I watched The Simpsons as a kid, then my teen years, and now as an adult.

It's also worth noting that despite people stating that "it hasn't been funny since ____", the ratings still outpace a lot of new shows. People still love the new episodes of this show.

I'm honestly glad that they're still going. The Simpsons was my literal childhood. It's obviously not as good anymore but it's nice to know it's still on. I'll be so sad once it ends
I still love the show now and crack up, never understood why people thought it was getting stale. Pretty sure they're gonna end after Season 30 though.
I'm still pissed at Fox for discontinuing the DVDs tho.
