He's the male equivalent of Katy Perry. Yeah his music is cheesy/corny but at the end of the day he's trying to make fun, lovable music.
Whether or not he succeeds at that is up to who you're asking but I personally do find him insufferably annoying

I'd say he's always been quite tacky/cheesy.
But idk I thought that was kinda well known.
I think if it wasn't for his good singing voice he wouldn't be taken as seriously.
