Talent wins when you're Beyonce 20 years into your career, but it's not exactly what you need to be heard on the radio these days. You can make this same argument during anytime within the last 50 years. The people considered great from the past are people who are very talented or made a huge shock changing things.
We can't judge anything by what we see now. We have to wait how everything turns out. There's probably artists right now who we ignore that will considered the definitive artist of this decade.
Like did you know Nirvana wasn't considered to be that great of a band. But 20 years later we recognize their sound as changing the sound of music for the next 20 years.
