In a wide-ranging interview with The Independent, Apple marketing chief Phil Schiller said the company has received more online orders for the new MacBook Pro so far than any previous-generation MacBook Pro.
People didn't buy for several years since there haven't been any significant updates since 2013 (some would say 2012). Not surprising there is a peak in sales.
There are sources suggesting a price drop + minor update coming next year - similar to what happened in 2013.
