ATRL: Did Purpose feel bigger than 1989?

I have no idea why, but Justin Bieber's star power and HUGE singles make me feel like Purpose was a bigger event than 1989. Not to discredit Taylor, but I didn't really feel bombarded by her or like she was over-exposed. However, I felt like I couldn't get away from Justin this era! Everybody was talking about his comeback and he slew so unexpectedly. Journals was a mess and the career revival is real.

In Mexico it was. WDYM/Sorry/LY were huge here and so was the album.

Yes, but that's because the 1989 era ended pretty early in most of the world

No. Probably because the purpose era ended after about 8 months whereas the 1989 era lasted about a year and a half and had more hits and had much much bigger first week sales.

Yes, his album was on Spotify so more people actually listened to his singles and songs, 1989 could have feel bigger if her songs were on Spotify, I wonder what she'll do next era since streaming is increasing every month and you don't get a hit in Europe just based on iTunes and Radio anymore.

Honestly, this is probably why. Although, it's impressive to note that he's doing better on YT despite a Spotify release.

And I understand it didn't sell nearly as much as 1989, but it's usually the singles that make the era feel huge. That's the artist's most likely and most direct contact w/ the public. Not many people will sit down and listen to an album, but if your song is coming on the radio every 5 minutes, that era will feel bigger.
