Yeah! Shows that it at least has some redeeming qualities even if they think it's a mess, which it kinda is but in a good way for me. Below 50 is bad but 60 is average. The review makes it clear that the reviewer thinks there's some merit in there. Their music has been bad for quite recently so it's good they didn't get unnecessarily dragged, even I can admit most of the criticism was valid.
This is actualy... great. I had almost no expectations after Bitter Rivals (though the song is my guilty pleasure) but they did it. I don't know where to rank it but it sounded almost Treats tier on the first listen.
I Can't Stand You Anymore is amazing and the singles sound better on the album than they did stand-alone for me.
75 on Metacritic but with only 4 reviews, the average is 70, and it's inflated by AP which give positive reviews to everything iirc, should end up positive though
I really like the album. There are some dull spots, but when a song like "Throw Me Down The Stairs" comes on, the album succeeds. I love them though. They have given me endless listening pleasure windows down, full blast in my car.
Also, their special edition vinyl package is a steal compared to the pop girls. I paid $25 for red vinyl, 7" vinyl of "Champions", autographed poster, and download link of the album.
I'm really digging this album. It took a few listens, but I'm starting to admire it more and more. I love how experimental and messy it is. I was a bit worried when the singles were released, but now, I understand why It's Just Us Now and I Can Only Stare were chosen, as they're arguably the most accessible songs on the album. IJUN grew on me tons. The first 60 seconds of Unlimited Dark Paths slays me every time. ICOS is my favorite, I think.
Saw them live last friday for the 3rd time. They were amazing! One of their best live shows. I hope they do more promo performances this era because they sound better than ever live tbh
This is their second best album besides 'Treats'. Really like it, way better than whatever Bitter Rivals was. Wish it would get as much attention as anything they did pre-2013, but whatever.
That performance was cute. It could have been a bit bigger, but it was fine. I think they've improved their live performances significantly.
This guy always drags them for filth. He's been pretty brutal to them - every album they release, every single song... He actually reviewed Jessica Rabbit and gave it a decent score. However, I do disagree with him completely about the songs he picked as his favorites and some of the criticisms. Review begins at the 0:46 mark.
