Can I just ask how you met? If he lives in Nigeria and you in the US, haveyou actually lived together etc. I ask because it might be difficult to prove love for one another if the relationship has always been a long distance one.

I don't really know what an American green card is but I know The UK has a very easy website to check what kind of visa you need: https://www.gov.uk/check-uk-visa/y/usa

Immigrating to The UK is not that easy though. Most people are able to move to EU countries because they're European Economic Area (EEA) citizens so they all have the right of free movement of persons - doesn't apply to American citizens. Then you also have people who come to Europe to be with their partner - also doesn't apply to you because neither has European citizenship. Then there are people who are able to come here for work or education. Note that not every job will get u a visa in The UK. You need to be a skilled worker for example (among all these other conditions). Also you always need to prove that you're not dependent on state funds so you need a certain amount of money and a place to live. You can't be an economic migrant and apply for welfare for example.

I only know one person that married someone from outside of the US, but he was Pakistani living in Japan and they married in Japan where she lived with him for several months before they were able to get permission for him to return with her to the US; he was eventually able to get a green card and then citizenship several years later. I'm not super well informed about the process, but she did this because it's complicated to get married on a Visitor Visa without getting charged with Visa fraud and banned from the US for life.

There are legal ways around that though and I can only suggest thoroughly researching and consulting with a lawyer if you choose to go that route. I hope it works out for y'all tho.

Hm, I'm not really sure what that is. But if you say you went to law school that sounds pretty promising. The more highly-educated you are, the more chance you have of being allowed to emigrate here, and I feel post-Brexit we will be especially welcoming to people coming from English-speaking countries like yours.
