Not when teachers carry 1/1000th of the responsibility compared to that of a doctor
Right?! Can't deal.
The fact it's so expensive to be a doctor and most of those doctors end up having to pay so much money back and also the crazy hrs they work etc. Doctors put in the most effort and work of many professions, therefore their pay is justified.
I think being a teacher is one of the most respectable professions you can have. The problem is that there are so many that don't do their jobs well, and more and more are becoming involved in scandals that are damaging the reputation of teachers in general.
Therefore, it doesn't make sense to pay them as much as doctors, even though the good teachers really deserve to be paid that much. They deserve a lot more, though. Teachers work their asses off and don't get the recognition they deserve for it.

It's important to realize the number of scandalous teachers is vastly outnumbered by the amount of teachers acting completely normal
Nah, not as much as Doctors--who are at the top of the food chain for a reason.
But yeah, they're a respectable profession and sort of underappreciated by society.
No, it's easier to become a teacher than it is a doctor. Make it more competitive to become a teacher, which would raise the educational standards in public schools. Then, raise teacher salaries.
Teachers should be paid more, but I don't think they should be paid what doctors are getting and this is coming from someone who is actually getting into teaching. In order for teachers to get paid more (on the levels of doctors), I think requirements to become an actual teacher needs to be revamped and become harder so we are actually getting more dedicated individuals of the profession.
Most people lose interest because of how the system treats them by not paying them what they deserve for their hard work or because they become punching bags for parents who don't know how to raise their kids.
Teachers need to be paid more but not as much as doctors. If anything, nurses (RNs specifically) should be paid closer to how much general physicians get paid. Doctors go through a whole lot of schooling but the nurses do their tasks + many of the doctor's tasks. They're the most involved with the patient's care and it's sad that they're under appreciated and in my opinion, underpaid.
Doctors save lives. If anything they should be paid more than anyone. Teachers deserve an increase since they are basically educating an entire upcoming generation but to say they are worth just as much as doctors is really dumb.
Why would they get paid that much to rehash the same information we've been getting every school year. Math and Science teachers being an expection but English teachers are a mess.
No. It's so much harder to become a doctor than it is to become a teacher. I think they're underpaid in Italy (€1,300 per month) but they round it up with private lessons.
Teachers, especially elementary/high school ones, is one of the most important professions to society and they're incredibly underappreciated and underpaid.
