I think DVDs will last long still, It only became popular when the price of the players (and the cd) got cheaper, they made it to kill VHS at once, and blu-rays are so ****ing expensive that, until players and the blu-ray cds get cheaper, DVD will keep on reining!

I don't want to convert all my DVDs to blu-rays, such an expensive way of wasting money....

I have over 170 Blu-Rays, most of them I have re-bought because I've had them on DVD.

I think Blu-Rays are here to stay because of the fact we are moving forward with HDTV's. Did you all read what I wrote? To watch regular Cable, you have to have an HDTV and they aren't going to make regular TV's anymore.

With that being said, I think Blu-Rays are here to stay.

Why would you buy a ****** quality film when you could watch it with a better Hi-Def experience? People sit here and say DVD's are better, they aren't.

I've compared most of my DVD's to the Blu-Ray and I cringe. It's that bad. The Blu-Ray makes it so much better. I think in 10 years, Blu-Rays will be a better % of movies sold, while DVD's are limited. When you walk into Best Buy, the first thing you see is three isles of Blu-Rays.

Unless you have an HD television, blu-rays look no different from a DVD. At least, not that I can notice. All the blu-rays have is extra features which are fully capable on holding those features as well. It's just that companies have gotten so $$$ hungry they no longer put special features on DVDs, and in later years, release special editions and **** like that with all the features that should've been on the DVD in the first place. Blu-rays will soon end up being that way, too. Also, blu-rays are much more expensive. DVDs also have a long shelf life, unlike VHSs which didn't, and a DVD made it better. A blu-ray doesn't give me, as a consumer, a reason to spend an extra $5 to pay for it. I think it's ridiculous. Also, they claim blu-rays hold more information. That's true, but why can't we get the technology to make the DVD hold more information without having to buy a whole damn new player, which are very expensive, too, I might add.

the only way people will buy blue-ray players is if they are a part of their tv.... tv companies should start making dvd/blue-ray capable tv's so that people can buy blue-ray movies and still use their dvd's.

i hope dvds won't go extinct, then Blu Rays take over. not unless they get cheaper hehe
