It can be one you've learned or one that just intimidates you. Just curious cause ATRL has people from all over the world and it's interesting to see a collection of what people find difficult.

The prepositions are a total mess (On/at/in/-)
The article "the", no definite rules about it, some rivers have it some don't, some things should have it, some don't.
The basic sentence structure that lacks flexibility.

Chinese. I was nearly fluent at one point, but I've lost most of it due to lack of practice. Despite that, the tones and characters still haunt me to this day.

Oh, and although I didn't have much difficult with it, I do acknowledge that English is one of the most difficult languages to master.

The east Asian languages in general are scary to me. Yet I plan to be fluent in Japanese, Chinese and Korean someday.

I only know Italian and English, but Italian as a native English speaker is a bitch because of the genders mainly, and all of the outrageous conjugations that come with that. The prepositions are mostly memorization only - having to decide when to use "a" or "in" when they mean the same thing - and the verb "fare" (to do/to make) being used for so much even when it seems impractical (ex. if you want to say "to ask a question" in Italian, you don't use the verb "chiedere" which is "to ask", you say "fare una domana", literally "to make a question").
I'm not very far along with Italian though so I'm sure there's much harder and much more irrational things to come
Latin was relatively easy until we delved into participles. From then on I struggled a bit. Having to decipher and always getting gerundive confused with future active was a nightmare
