No, but they were very very close in 1995. Now it will never happen because many independence movements are aligning themselves with the right which alienates minorities who are now a significant force in the province.
I read a very interesting article which shows how Quebec, Catalonia and Scotland's independence movements tend to peak at 50% public support Fear of the unknown and of a broken economy is what deters a lot of people.
Quebec would be independent however if it weren't for the Revolution tranquille of the 1960s and activists like Rene Levesque, who made sure the French language was respected and used in Quebec. It is funny because they supported independence, but I would say Canada does sort of a good job overall respecting French. If there is a community of 40+ French speakers anywhere in Canada they have the right to request a French school to be set up there.
When French people come to my work in a predominant English-speaking city, they freak out and always demand another worker who speaks French because I don't speak it. When I go to Montreal, if they don't speak English they don't even try to accommodate it.

Young people have different views, our new Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, who is himself a Quebecois, is aligning Québécois with him.

Living in Canada's capital region (constituted of Ottawa/Gatineau, being one city in Ontario and the other in Québec, its truly a dynamic region with the unique bilingual character of the area, its a great mix. The divide here tends to be next to none when it comes to the "hate" towards french canadians or english canadians.
no but i like that there are still "pure" french societies, not the complete americanisation. also with the french community in Lousiana altho Quebec's are so much larger.
