Like the VHS, will DVD's start to go extinct, as Blu-Ray's become the new trend?
With how technology is advancing, we all have to upgrade to an HDTV to watch simple Cable. If you don't get an HDTV, you can't get Cable. At least that's what I heard, I don't watch Cable ever, but it was in an article, you had to get a converter for the Cable to watch it on your HDTV.
I think until the price of Blu-Ray's drop by like $3 or so, on average, DVD's will be around for a few more years.

All I can say is though, I haven't bought a DVD in years. I only buy DVD's if it's not on Blu-Ray. And when I do buy DVD's, which is very very rare, I cringe. The quality, compared to Blu-Ray, suck so horribily that it RUINS my movie experience.
If you all didn't pay attention, Avatar comes out this week on Blu-Ray. Also Minority Report and The Lovely Bones.
The Minority Report, just watched it, is epic and legendary to Blu-Ray. They gave it justice.

It felt like a new experience. I just, literally, just popped in the DVD and the graphics are so blurry and run-down and I started to cringe again.
I currently have over 170 Blu-Rays, going to break 200 by the end of this year for sure
