"Closer" is actually similar to "One Sweet Day"
Neither actually deserved to have the record of longest running. They were huge huge hits, but there was so other hits of their decade that was actually bigger.
I Will Always Love You, Macarena, and Candle in the Wind were bigger than OSD. Uptown Funk, Happy, and Hello were bigger than Closer and it's not even close.
Both of them being longest running feels very fluke like. Nobody would think Closer or One Sweet Day if you asked them "what was the longest running #1 hit of the 90s and 10s?"

Closer is more deserving of 16 weeks at #1 than Views of 13 weeks at #1
And I think it's a bit early to judge how it will compare to Happy or Hello in the end.

Yeah, how many songs have double digit weeks atop both sales and streaming?
It's not like it's something with 2 weeks in the sales T2.

Has to do with the "how many weeks at #1 are deserving for x" topic
Closer is crazy dominant on all 3 Hot 100 components. If it has solid longevity, which I expect, it will easily be bigger than Hello

No, I was definitely discussing longest running Hot 100 #1's, then you brought up how Drake's album did on Billboard 200 simply because you love Closer and got mad at me calling it out.
If you're going to start something, atleast own up to it.
Closer isn't bigger than Hello.
How do sales compare? How to streams compare? How does radio performance compare?
Hot 100 run is dumb to compare, since it was a #1 debut and had a monstrous amount of it's activity absorbed in it's first few weeks. Hello's first week at #1 alone is bigger than like Closer's first 5 weeks at #1 in points.

Why would there be a difference between Hot 100 and BB200. Views is the first thing that comes to mind when discussing to many weeks at #1. That just the way it is
We can compare when Closer's run is finished. It's been out for 13 weeks now
But seems like Closer will pass Hello in US Spotify views tomorrow already. Youtube Hello at this point has a massive lead obviously, but that's an extremely consistent platform. I can certailnly see Closer catching up.
Sales Hello will stay a lot bigger, but its really a different time now. Yeah Hello wasnt long ago, but the decline is crazy.
Radio no idea.

Because we were discussing Closer and One Sweet Day, two singles... then you brought up Views. If we're discussing Views & 25, two albums, then I suddenly bring up Shake It Off when responding to a Taylor fan... that seems like I'm trying to start something. How would an album's performance fit into a discussion on two singles' performance?

This is hypocritical.
*Brings up how Closer will pass Hello in streams, failing to point out Streaming gaining power since then*
*Brings up how Closer can't pass Hello in sales, pointing out sales have fallen since then*
Hello still has more impressive sales, when accounting for the decline in sales since.
Hello still has more impressive streams, when accounting for how bigger streaming is since it was released. Hello demolished many streaming records, what streaming records has Closer demolished?
And Hello did much better on radio. A Pop, HAC, Rhythmic, AC, Urban, and Urban AC crossover.
It's no competition.

Of course streaming has grown, but Closer will also destroy the Hello streaming numbers.
Sure Hello is a more impressive seller even adjusting, but I expext the Closer lead on streaming to be bigger in the end.
Hello had 11 weeks at #1 on radio. Closer is at 4 and should finish with 6-8.
So yeah Hello has sales and airplay on its side. Good for the bigger hit that it's a streaming time.

And Hello got first week streaming records because of all the hype. That's really not all that relevant in judging how big a song was in the end.

So Hello had record-breaking sales for it's time, while Closer didn't.
Hello had record-breaking streams for it's time, while Closer didn't.
Hello was one of the biggest songs on radio ever, Closer wasn't.
While 25 also went Diamond, and Closer was apart of no album period.
Glad we established the bigger hit.

Glad we established that we disagree on what's the bigger hit.
Who cares about 1 week record breaking things? So irrelevant.
Closer will have a lot more longevity and if you like records, maybe you should track Closer's chase of both most week at #1 on digital songs and most weeks at #1 on streaming songs. Has a shot at both.

Hello did better on sales OVERALL. Even when taking in consideration the decline in sales.
Hello did better on radio OVERALL.
Closer probably will do better on streams overall even taking in consideration streaming's increase, but Hello is not far behind in that department.
But wait,
Comparing albums on SPS: 1989 did better on sales & TEA however Views did better on Streaming.
I guess using your logic "Good for the bigger hit that it's a streaming time." that makes Views the bigger album overall since being bigger on Streaming in a streaming time >> being bigger in album sales + TEA.

Indeed. Your logic only working when it's useful for you.
Hello being bigger in sales, radio, and right behind in streams but Closer being bigger "because Streaming is what matters" yet Views not being bigger than 1989 despite having bigger streams over 1989's sales because streaming isn't the full picture.

We will see how "right behind" Hello will be in the end.
And you know that 1989 is not on Spotify, right? So should we compare 1989 Youtube vs Views Spotify or what? Since both are only at 1 of them really and I mean both count for RIAA.
1989 is slightly over 1 billion US Youtube views.
Where is Views on US Spotify? Certainly over 1 billion too, but not sure by how much.

iHype spilling the tea.
"Hello" still has ATRL pressed after 1 year. The epitome of longevity.
