The fourth-generation iPhone prototype that leaked its way out into the world over the weekend has found its way to Gizmodo, and they've examined it exhaustively, erasing any doubt that it's real. Not only does it show up in iTunes, Xcode, and System Profiler, but it has different product identifiers than the 3G or 3GS, and it's packed with Apple-labeled components inside. Unfortunately, they couldn't get it to boot out of recovery mode, but a number of new features and changes are evident just by holding it. Obviously, it's thinner than the 3GS, with smaller internal components and a larger battery inside the metal frame. There's also a front-facing camera, a larger and better camera with a flash on the back, a higher-res display that's slightly smaller than the current models, a second mic for noise cancellation, and that new back, which Giz seems a bit confused about but we're fairly sure is glass or ceramic. It's also three grams heavier than a 3GS, with a 16 percent larger battery and the same new MicroSIM slot used in the iPad.
Not diggin the flat back.....Does this finally come with iChat?
I'm guessing they'll announce that in the official keynote (June). I don't care for the shape either, it seems to have lost some of what made it unique. This might be an early prototype though, it's not confirmed.
I'm so over them coming out with a completely new model every year. I JUST upgraded from the first gen iPhone to the 3gs and now it's already going to be out of date and I'm not even close to an upgrade.
I'm still not sure it's real. Even if it is, I think the final product is going to look different. That may have just been some sort of prototype model and not a final version.

It does seem like that, but all phone makers refresh their product lines every 6 months - year. The only difference is that Apple gets more mainstream publicity for their new stuff.
Since you have a 3GS, you'll be 100% up to date on the software side, via the iPhone OS4 update coming in June. I'm still on my 3G and probably won't upgrade until the 5th Gen.
Wow, that is pure sex. Wish I hadn't waited to get a 3GS. I have had it for over a year though, and I know my mom will want to replace hers too, so maybe for my birthday

I don't think its that Apple gets more attention but that they only have one phone and its constantly getting upgrade with better features (some of which I feel they could have added years ago). Whereas other company's are coming out with new phones, not newer versions. Personally I've never owned an iPhone, I currently have the Motorola Devour, which basically does the same things as the any smart phone, the only thing that Apple is still on top of is the Apps. The Android market is still growing and hopefully will be as big as the App Store.

Apple also have a better OS, better screen, better music player etc than the Android phones. I'm not an Apple fanboy but this is one area where they are clearly the leaders of the pack.
