I'm not certain, but I am pretty sure the OP was speaking generally, not specifically about ATRL users and not being a native English speaker is kind of irrelevant in this case because there are plenty of native speakers who make grammatical mistakes like this all the time.
THIS and sometimes it's more likely that it's the native speakers that **** things up
Because when you use the words "should've" and "could've" they sound like should of and could of, therefore people make the mistake of thinking that's what you'd say without the apostrophes.

It annoys me so much. Probably more than Your/You're and They're/Their/There tbh.
The worst part is that it's usually the native English-speaking people.
Grammar is being taught more in depth in countries which English isn't a native speaking language, like mine. So that's probably one of the reasons.
