Sorry to have jumped down your throat but there is a general tone of "she's only popular now because there aren't many others still slaying" from detractors and it drives me up the wall because it's just not true. She was far from a flop last decade. She was everywhere, doing everything like her peers were. I think too many people are confusing her "it girl" status, which she's been past for some time now, with her newfound pop icon status, which she just came into. To drag or try to discredit her for still being successful and still striving for better is petty.

I just meant that at the time there was far more competition in the sense that a lot of her contemporaries were also huge or bigger so she could've been overlooked in comparison, but as time went on their careers had different dramatic twists and turns for different reasons while she remained consistent and focused with music front and centre which allowed her to continue to develop her loyal fanbase and ultimately end up bigger.
P!nk is similar in that sense and I think that's why she's managed to maintain her success. Even Britney managed to do this up until around FF, although with a bit more difficulty and resistance considering her troubles. BJ was a steep drop quality-wise which hurt her momentum and has made it more difficult for her to sell on name alone.
