R&B album was merged with Contemporary R&B album so I don't think it's that tightly genred to classical styling anymore. Chris Brown managed to win with F.A.M.E. so
But I agree it does fit best in U/C, competition is always tight there though.
This makes it much more likely that Lemonade will win AOTY, Blond would've peeled a lot of votes away from it. Wouldn't be surprised if her team paid him to not submit.
Making sure to have an excuse/reason to invalidate it just in case she wins it right?
Given the messy rollout of the album, guessing he doesn't really care.
Yeah, he doesn't care and probably did this on purpose. Beyoncé jokes aside, he might even be taking some kind of stance against the Grammys and I love it

No, it was merged with Contemporary R&B back in 2011 when they did the redux of the categories. But the following year it was split again and Contemporary R&B was just renamed to Urban Contemporary with a more distinct guideline BECAUSE of the Chris Brown win over more traditional R&B acts. http://www.thefader.com/2015/02/02/t...-grammy-exists
Lemonade is not a traditional R&B album by any means. It belongs in Urban Contemporary and no other genre category.

RIGHT, okay I'm with you. I was unaware about the split 1 year later, that does actually make more sense.
I know I'm late on this one but how does a person and his management miss the Grammy cut off date? It's one of the most important dates in a musicians career. There is no excuse for it. His management team should have done it for him. No excuse. Why are people boycotting? It's his fault. He had 2 months to get ready after his albums were released. No excuse.

Maybe he didn't want to submitt? I mean, it's pretty obvious at this point.

Macklemore and Kendrick Lamar didn't submit anything neither. It's their choice.
