Guys, just read the interview. It's obvious after reading it that she wants to bridge two different kinds of people together through music. But y'all are so set on shredding everything she says to pieces that you can't even understand that what she's trying to do is bigger than a petty little stan war.

She literally implied she intentionally made this straight-friendly record in order to bridge different communities together, which makes absolutely zero sense. It's like saying "I want gays to dress normal and masc so everybody can get along with each other". Her interview was extremely problematic.

Except she said at Swinefest 2013 how she didn't like how pop artists were put into a box and she wanted to rebel against pop. Only then she didn't have the material to back her up. If anything she's just solidifying who she has been for sometime with more candid openess about her image - past, present, and future.

There was nothing wrong with what she said. She wants her music to reach a larger range of people and she wants people to understand that she's a real person with the same struggles as them, she isn't some larger than life alien that she feels like she's treated as sometimes.

This. Not to mention, so many interviews this era she has said that she's never lied about who she is, and she's never been inauthentic. Every era/album, she is being and showing how she feels on the inside in that moment, and she was just being who she was at that time. The way she is now is how she is now, and the way she expresses herself a few years down the line will be who she is in that moment.

And music wise, the girl grew up singing jazz, being a Britney fan, listening to Springsteen, in drama club doing theatre productions, etc. She's got a wide range of music influences and wants to dabble in it all.
