People gave it so much flack for "underperforming" at the time, but with hindsight we can now see that actually the only regard in which it underperformed, was with Gaga's own standards - and as the natural decline of her fame + album sales slump arrived + a very polarizing image and arguable "pretentious" image at the time, a lot of people were put off. That being said - the music was still great, "Applause" was a bop, everyone loves "Do What U Want", "G.U.Y." was an EDM club banger, "Sexxx Dreams" was great, "Gypsy" and ANTHEM and "Venus" a fun, ecclectic, Gaga-to-the-core bop.

I never hated ARTPOP, just a select few songs I'm not crazy about.

I never hated it. I couldn't hate the album that gave us DWUW and Dope, two of her best songs.

But I also don't regret my disappointment in the era as a whole, and in Gaga for her strange/misguided conception of art.

I still think it's a terrible album but I listened to G.U.Y the other day and my wig flew.

PI & the snippets of Joanne are making me appreciate it a bit more though.
