Going by the logic of this thread she's been an activist since Independent Women (2000), so no she hasn't been boring. Her music has gotten better with each release (except IASF). Quality > charts and sales.
This must be how people talked about Madonna in the 90s (especially the first half). People who didn't use her much to begin were probably like, "Do you miss Like A Virgin era Madonna?", "Do you want Madonna to go back to pure pop?", "Why is she so pretentious now?"
Not people naming IASF her best album. Bey is my favorite, but that was not an album/body of work. It was basically just a collection of songs with potential with some amazing highlights, but nowhere near a good album.The whole person/stage persona concept was really interesting and the era took her career to a cemented level, but as body of work it is her low.
