Why is it so common? Why is OK for a historically oppressed and marginalized group of people to do the same to others of their community as well?

Why is also that bi-sexual women are often seen as really straight but 'experimenting' where as bi-sexual men are seen as undercover gay men?

It's been bothering me lately and I just wanted to have a discussion about it. Any thoughts?

with guys it's because a lot of gays come out as bi first thinking it will make things easier. knowing the trend, it's just logical that a lot of people would project that onto guys that are actually bi

Ignorance, occasionally reinforced by societal tropes & the lack of clearly defined sexuality definitions.

I read statistics somewhere along the lines that 50% of bisexuals are likely to change their self identified sexuality within 10 years. This is likely a mix of people transitioning out of the closet (this trope is real) people not fully sure of their sexuality since they've been bought up believing if you're not 100% straight you're bi/gay, as well as many people who are just legitimately very fluid when it comes to orientation. It doesn't help that Bi men are typically very hard to come by or identify (in my experience), so gay men are sometimes skeptical of their existence (reinforced by those who use Bi as an entry step out of the closet).

So many gay men I knew or dated years ago claimed to be bi but are now fully gay. So I can see why people are skeptical as many of us use bisexuality as a transition phase to being gay. Problem is it makes it so much harder on the actual bisexuals who become erased or oppressed.

people see bisexual women only experimenting because of women like Lady GaGa, Nicki Minaj, Jessie J and even fake lesbian icons t.A.T.u. they all faked/experimented their sexuality and it lead to them saying they are heterosexual instead. And these are just examples of celebrities.

It's because there's so many people who say they're bi but then turn out to be either gay or straight. I wish they wouldn't do that, it harder for genuinely bisexual people to come out because a lot of people won't believe them.

It's a problem because a lot of gay men use bisexuality as a halfway point to coming out as gay and discredits their orientation. It's an issue no one really wants to address just because of the sensitivity to it all but it's going to need to be at some point.

Because bisexuality is used as a way to be edgy or to take a small step out if the closet.

In my experience, bisexuals are the worst. I've had "dates" with 11 bisexual men. And those 11 men take up spots 1-11 on my worst dates of all time list. Most of these bisexual guys I've dealt with like men sexually. I mean to say are open to letting a guy pleasure them sexually. Several wouldn't return the favor. Half of them didn't even want to kiss. They felt that was too intimate. 4 of them exclusively only wanted to be with a man so that they could bottom and wouldn't do anything else.

My impression (even if I know it's not applicable to all bisexual men) is that bisexual men like men but would rather be with females for love and relationships and even intimate sex stuff. The ones I've encountered just made me feel like I was fun on the side. And I've been with a fair few too and it's always the same. Bisexual men make up a twentieth of the men I've been with and they differ from gay men in one key way: they're not after a male-male relationship. Not just a committed relationship or dating but the courtship and all that.

I support them but my opinion of them is very meh and it would take a specia bi guy for me to date. I'm open to it but at the same time hesitant and I would keep my emotions guarded for a while because I'm just not convinced it would be a lasting relationship. No offense to you bisexuals, just sharing my experiences and thoughts
