We’ve been waiting patiently for a very long time for some new music from Bruno Mars, 30. His last album Unorthodox Jukebox came out in 2012, and the last hit he sang on was Mark Ronson’s “Uptown Funk” in 2014. He finally released “24k Magic” on Oct. 6, however the reason that it took him so long to put out new music is absolutely tragic.
“The past four years, since his last album have been the hardest years of his life,” a source tells HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVEY. “He lost his mother three years ago totally unexpectedly. She had a brain aneurysm it was a total shock, it’s been a major process for him to recover from that and then last February his grandma (maternal grandmother Sally Bayot) who helped raise him passed away right before the Super Bowl.” Oh no!
“This album could have gone totally dark, there were certainly some dark days for Bruno, but instead he turned it into a celebration, he chose to honor his mom and grandmother — or Mamma as he called her — by making a joyous album. They were full of good vibes and love and that’s what he wants this album to spread.” So touching! Our hearts go out to Bruno, and we’re so proud of him for making his first single “24k Magic” so amazing!
And people tried to tell me he wasn't the male Katy Perry
Sounds like the album was super rushed. Honestly you can kinda tell from the lead single, the cover, the fact there's only 9 songs ... Bet he scrapped the original album super late in the process and the label gave him the deadline of this fall
It's really offensive to call a Grammy Award winner the male Katy Perry. It seems like some of you all didn't read the article. The album could have turned very dark since he lost two of the most important people in his life yet he chose to release a happy album, it doesn't say he recorded dark tracks or was promoting it as one. He simply had hard days like any person who has lost anybody does.
You guys are making the wrong analogy, if anything Bruno has gone through a reverse Adele-25 experience where after a long break of time after contemplating a dark album, he scrapped it for a happy album
