Talk to your GP - that is really important.
Also, don't feel bad for actually doing the drug. You might feel guilty or ashamed - but do not. Accept you're addicted, what's done is done. The step down is trying to reduce your usage. It's extremely unlikely you'll just stop completely. The most effective way will be trying to limit your intake slightly every day, or every week. That will be less noticeable, and you will notice less side-effects as a result of giving up.
