Is The Great Wall starring Matt Damon whitewashing?
The first trailer just came out at NYCC
Personally, I don't think having a white character or protagonist in a Chinese movie is whitewashing
Matt Damon and that guy from GoT didn't replace anything Asian characters, they are just part of the story.
Ghost in the Shell, Dr Strange, The Last Air Bender ect are whitewashing movies because they replaced the original Asian characters with white people, but this one is not.
I wouldn't call it 'white-washed' since Damon's character is white. But the whole "white man's coming to save the asian philistines" is kinda getting old.
And oh wow the movie looks terrible That Chinese woman made me cringe.
It's not white washing but it is so typical of Hollywood to have these movies about other countries and somehow make it so all the main characters are white.
