That theme is what destroyed everything though. The "cycle of hatred" was supposed to end with Naruto's generation but in the end it never happened, all for the next generation. Naruto and his generation didn't really change anything in the end.

Anyway, I just think it's Japanese anime culture that most dads are ****** to give the storyline some meat on it's bones.

Bad Husband? Yeah. Bad Father? No. I got the blurays for DBZ Kai recently and watched through them (it goes until Cell Saga finishes) and the way Chi Chi is more concerned about Gohan becoming a scholar when the earth will literally be destroyed - alongside Gohan - makes me question her more than Goku. Goku is a slacker but does what's necessary to keep the earth - and by association, his son too - safe.

The thing that mostly annoyed me when watching it - and this is a whole other subject completely - is Vegeta and his 'Pride'. Arrogant fools and their pride. It happens in so many animes. They get over-confident; wanting to show they're the best, and they get destroyed and put everyone else in danger. Vegeta letting Cell transform and not listening to Trunks annoyed me so much

@Hivy: You've got to remember that breaking the cycle is a Western theme. Any area touched by Buddhism and filial piety is going to be more focused on the individual journey and how it ties in to existentialism while mirroring the past. It's part of why most Americans can't grasp these shows.

@RihannaRTT: Vegeta is the ultimate villain archetype in Buddhist/enlightenment ideology and even Confuscian belief systems. You have to remember that Dragon Ball Z, despite being Japanese produced and inspired by the American Superman, is really a new age take on the Chinese Journey To The West.

Obviously. Even my bae Vegeta spends time with his family. Goku has always been obsessed with fighting and martial arts and becoming stronger. You can clearly tell that theres hardly any affection between him and Chi Chi. I mean in the last episode of Super, Goku was shocked at someone putting their mouth on the opposite sex as if he's never kissed his wife before I mean you can tell even Vegeta and Bulma get it in occasionally

Same with Naruto, he's just focused on being the best Hokage.

Imo, Him and Goku just dont know how to balance and deal with family life. They were both pretty much on their own for so long. Goku gets so restless and bored just being a dad and husband (Chi Chi seems to just want to be a housewife anyway. And shes always trying to get Goku to fight and win them some money).

But yes, to answer your question, Goku, Naruto, and Ging (HxH) are the worse anime fathers I have ever seen
