Gaga wanted to release Aura. They chose Applause
instead = SMART to me (I'm not talking about Gaga here, just in a commercial perspective).
Gaga wanted to release Venus, and they changed
her plans, and released Do What U Want. Yep, it does sound smart to me.
Interscope didn't want any other singles during the Artpop era, but Gaga still went on anyway. And yes, it was, again, a smart decision of interscope to stop trying to make an era that was doomed happen.
As of for the BTW era, I don't know what/who made the decision, so I can't judge.
Anyway, y'all always here talking **** about Interscope as if they're the devils, but they did their best to help Gaga succeed every.single.time.
