A lot of Republicans hate Clinton more than Obama, though. Sure, she says that she will try to work with them. But the problem is, the Republicans have moved further to the right. Look at the way people on the right are getting about immigrants. Trumps war on Mexicans and immigrants might not have won, but Senators (particularly with an eye on running in 2020) and never going to work with Clinton on anything like immigration. And its the same for a lot of issues: Healthcare, trade deals, foreign affairs, etc.
That and the fact Clinton has moved slightly towards the left (largely down to Sanders and a lot of people on the left becoming anti-establishment), has made it seem to a lot of people on the right she is an evil communist

And, that is the key difference between her and Bill. Congress was not as polarised in the 90s. There were a lot more voters who associated as independents. There really wasn't that much separating the two parties. Now it would feel like a crime if Republicans compromised with Democrats on most issues, or vice versa. And you can see why.
It won't be Clinton's fault at all. But I don't expect her to get much through. She's just going to become president at a really divisive and polarised time, not just in America, but all over the world.
