Britney Spears
#1 albums/singles (3 decades [US & WW]). Daily coverage without propaganda just purely on a recognizable, influential and impactful legacy. Iconic videos, songs, performances. 100M albums shipped 100M singles sold. Top 10 ranking all time best selling female artist. 2 diamond albums. Top 3 female in WW album/single sales over the past 20 yrs Which is difficult to get, not everyone has that.

Why don't you compare Ariana's third album with Britney's third?
Britney (album) destroys DW.
Or perhaps you want to compare it to Beyoncé (IASF), Katy Perry (Prism), Lady Gaga (Born This Way), Taylor Swift (Speak Now), Adele (25), Christina Agulera (Back To Basics), Avril Lavigne (The Best Damn Thing) or Rihanna (GGGB).
She's literally doing worse than all the main/ex-main popgirls.
Keep trying.

Is this a real question? Maybe because Britney's third album came out over 10 years ago...you know, different sales climate. What's up with y'all constantly having to revert back to over a decade for some receipts?

Even so, comparing Ariana with her third album to Britney with her 8th is ludicrous, all things considered ITZ had bigger hits and was indeed far more successful even without considering album sales.

Why? You think people stopped buying Brit's albums because she has a lot of them out already? It doesn't make sense. The album releases are months apart. In 2016. The age and amount of album comparisons never make sense. ITZ was of course more successful, however it wasn't Brit's third album. And still, it was released over 10 years ago, in a completely different sales climate. Lets use more sense.

The point is that both are at different points in their careers and musician's popularity usually diminishes with age and time, Ariana is over ten years younger than Britney and hasn't been around for as long as she's been, so yeah it isn't sensible to compare them in that way.

She has lots of big hits but still lacks a trademark song, still hasn't had significant pop culture moment (the donut thing was and is stupid and embarrassing, it was a cute little controversy but 99% of people don't know what it's about.)
Like that's just why - like Britney, Beyonce, Gaga, Taylor, Rihanna. They just went from strength to strength and kept on adapting and changing, but as far as I can tell Ariana has stuck with the same thing her whole career so far. She needs to do something drastic, and I don't just mean change her hairstyle and have a "dark" era and record 'edgy' (aka. bad and radio unfriendly songs) music.

I like some of Ariana's music but I actually agree with this.

Mandy Moore but I don't see any of their faves having a Diamond Album in the Philippines like she does so OMHs can discredit her as much as they want but us Mooreners have receipts and talent on our side.

No, it really doesn't. If anything all the 2000s + 2010s Acts here get their credit .
Janet Jackson is the answer to this thread, by far. Like someone here really tried comparing her to Paula Abdul. Who here acts like Christina Aguilera is no different to 98 Degrees? I'll wait.

Uhm. No. And I'm not surprised to see someone who regularly trolls Xtina related threads or belittles her also coming in here to, once again, dish on her either.
OT: still Christina Aguilera

Britney is not some old, nostalgic act. Britney is in her early 30s. And so are her other peers who have sold more than Ariana. So, really, no it doesn't make sense to compare them in that way, especially given that no one is even considering the change in sales climate and taking streaming into account.

Please I actually like Xtina. I even have an account on x.RED.
Just because I call out fantasies about her success by the likes of D.M.F and other Fighters, doesn't mean I don't know what I'm talking about and trolling her for the sake of it. Actually, I would LOVE it if you could actually refute by facts the things I say about Xtina, it's NOT baseless. I have an actual argument. You guys tell yourselves otherwise to feel better
And LOL @ still Christina Aguilera over JANET JACKSON. I mean do I really need to list all the ways Janet blows Xtina out of the water? Yet Janet gets less credit here on ATRL than Xtina. Janet is the definite answer to this thread.

Are you ****ing joking
The claim was she is currently outselling some major pop girls, which is true.
The claim was not that she is outselling major pop girls back when a) they were at their peak or b) at the equivalent stage to Ariana in their career with their third album, let alone the fact that sales has drastically decreased over 15 years since Britney's 3rd album, even albums released 5 years ago in 2011.
Even if I was too compare the two, DW's singles have all outpeaked Britney's singles
Bet you love the fact that she has already outsold Revival even it was released 7 months later though
