1 album doesn't mean anything. Most men don't need many contributors on their albums, while most females need it. And as you see, this Kendrick album also has like 95 (?) % male collaborators. So I really don't understand why you act like there's no place for males in music industry when they're actually the ones whos making hits for everyone including your fave. That's also the reason for girls being able to change sound per every album/song, cos changing producers is enough.
2000's pop music is over. We have watched several pop stars release more alternative-pop albums within the past two years (ANTI, Lemonade, Joanne, Beyonce, A Seat at the Table, etc), and we are seeing more alt-pop leaning artists gain exposure. Urban and hip-hop sounds are much more influential over the pop industry nowadays, and rap itself is being degraded into its own version of pop music. People are simply streaming what they like and what is catchy, versus buying albums from artists they actually respect. In this case, quality doesn't always mean quantity. Even Katy is having issues, as her past pop sound is off trend, and songs like Dark Horse aren't always the answer. Bey and Rihanna noticed this first, and decided to release music they would rather listen to instead of mindless EDM with vocals, and Gaga is going to follow this year by releasing an alt-pop/rock/punk album.
I feel like this thread is made every week
Just because pure pop isn't that popular anymore doesn't mean "Pop" is dead
Britney and Ariana just delivered great pop albums
