Characters with darker skin tones are now included though? Can you explain to me what's the issue here? A character with pale skin has a certain hairstyle and because of the color of his skin he shouldn't?
Almost 100% of the people that make Pokemon games are POC, just FYI. White people have very little involvement in the making of Pokemon games. Next time you complete a Pokemon game read the names in the credits.

The games didn't have character customisation at all until gen 6, before that the characters were Asian.
And I don't see the problem with having dreads, it's a great choice for black characters. Obviously they aren't going to limit it to one skin color, lol.

Brock is clearly Asian. I'm talking about other POC like Blacks
jinx is NOT blackface, it's actually a pokémon based off of ganguro, which is a type japanese street fashion.
ganguro is supposed to be people challenging japanese society's general concept of beauty, that is; black hair, pale skin, neutral makeup. ganguro instead had bleached their hair to white or blonde, applied fake tan to their skin, and use colourful makeup.
it has nothing to do with black people or blackface
And when they introduced POC characters they were in stereotypical roles. Like basketball players, football players, break dancer. one of the gym leaders in 5th gen literally looks like Aunt Jemima
