Music Box easily. It sold double the amount, how is this even a question? People desperately grasping at straws "but it had no impact other than being one of the greatest selling albums of all time!!" and it's ridiculous. Hard sales that are literally 2x higher mean more than the subjective concept of "impact" - of which it seems that Janet didn't have enough to make up for half the sales she is missing
It really isn't close. Music Box sold 29 million, janet. sold 14-15 million. Music box was bigger. Hero and Without You were bigger than any songs on janet. WW and they have higher views on YouTube as well

How the hell did this thread get to Page 7 when Music Box doubled janet.'s sales and had much bigger worldwide hits? Hero and Without alone were more global than Janet's entire existence.
Critical reception: The janet. album was received better with critics. Mariah's album was met with a lukewarm reception.
Sales: Let us use the top 6 biggest music markets.
Australia: Janet was certified 2X Platinum, Mariah is 12X Platinum. Canada: Janet was certified 3X Platinum, Mariah is 7X Platinum. France: Janet is certified 2X Gold, Mariah is Diamond. Germany: Janet is certified Gold, Mariah is 2X Platinum. Japan: Janet is certified 2x Platinum, Mariah is Double Diamond? United Kingdom: Janet is certified 4X Platinum, Mariah is 5X Platinum. United States: I'd say pretty even because both albums have scanned 7 million in sales, although Mariah is certified Diamond.
Impact: Up for debate.
Singles: That's The Way Love Goes hit number 1 in Australia, Canada, and the United States. Peaked at number 15 in France and number 9 in Germany. Missed the top spot in the United Kingdom peaking at number 2.
Dreamlover hit number 1 in Canada and the United States. Peaked at number 7 in Australia, number 39 in Germany, number 49 in France, and number 9 in the United Kingdom.
If peaked at 18, 3, 25, 14, and 4 in Australia, Canada, Germany, United Kingdom, and the United States, respectively. Hero peaked at 7, 10, 5, 41, 7, and 1 in Australia, Canada, France, Germany, United Kingdom, and the United States, respectively. If is certified Gold in the United states; Hero is certified 3X Platinum.
Without You was a hit worldwide, Again hit number 1 in the United States only.
Touring: Janet wins by default. You cannot compare a 125 show tour with a 10 date one.
Both artists each have their own areas in which they dominate and excel in. Without that being said, you choose.

Try better with shade henny.
Having a #1 album nowadays with today's sales climates with regards to 80s and 90s acts is basically nothing if the album sales are not consistent.
You can't just gush over a #1 album if it doesn't have consistency.

It outsold MIAMETC, sooo I don't know what you are going on about. My point remains. He came for its 'lack of sales' and it backfired.
