Plus, that would never happen. The U.S. has the power to veto under the security council, which I am surprised they didn't veto this bill. Not to mention all our trade partners wouldn't like it either.

I agree! I think the best way to go about this (so it would get passed) would be something like financial support for education, and good financial support not just some small little thing.

What is needed is a way to change the environment. Aslong as there is still a HUGE group of white racists who can get children and raise them with the same narrow minded values, nothing will change. Ofcourse reparations could be good to finally acknowledge certain things coming from the government. But aslong as people still get shot just because they are who they are, there is no environment to actually give those reparations.

There's no way lol. I am 100% in support of a formal apology and attacking institutional racism, but no monetary reparations.

I dont see how they could possibly do this now. It should've happened a long ass time ago but now it isn't a good idea. Slavery left a terrible impact on the black community that exists today and keeps us at an extreme disadvantage economically and socially. Its the reason the black community is at its state right now with poverty and crime but no one(read white people) wants to acknowledge this. If we do this now white ppl will be livid. It also does nothing to throw money at the problem.

Reparations are not even necessary for the black community to get back on their feet. It is the oppression that continues today that is holding black people back. Despite, white americans having a 400 year advantage, if systemic racism was done away with today, you'll see that advantage deplete in no time. Blacks built egypt, blacks built america, blacks built black wall street during the height of Jim Crow. Blacks are simply the strongest there are, but unfortunately there are way too many hurdles in 2016. Forget the past, remove the hurdles and America will turn upside down.
